Want to get involved?
The Smithers Ringette Association is new to Smithers, so we are looking for as many talented and enthusiastic helpers as possible! You don't need ringette experience to get involved. This is all for fun and for the kids! We will guide you in any direction you are willing to put your time and energy toward.
Open Positions:
Coaches
Currently, we have three full time coaches and one part time coach. As our association grows, we will need more people to step up, learn more about the game and take a leadership role. We are more than willing to mentor you! There are great coaching resources and clinics to help prepare you to be ready to take on this role. Don't be intimidated! We know there are undercover ringette folks out there! If you used to play or know someone that has experience, we encourage you to reach out to us! We want you to be a part of our team, whoop!
On Ice Helpers
If you're not ready to be a coach, but you still want to get on the ice ad be involved, we can still use you!! We have a very wide range of skill levels that will need help on the ice. Mainly kiddos that need help gaining confidence on their skates. If you would like to come out and help keep kids upright, that would be fantastic! We could also use you before and after ice times to help set up, take down equipment and set up drills during practice.
Bench Helpers
I can't skate, but I have a good attitude and I want to still help out... Bench Helper is for you! We are looking for parents willing to be on the bench for practices and games to help kids with water, equipment adjustments and opening gates. Oh, and cheering too!
Gymnasium Instructors
We need helpers and instructors to implement our gym ringette program. There are so many PE classes to cover, with so little time and limited resources! If you are enthusiastic and like working with kids, come and join our gym instructors. They can show you the ropes on how we teach gym ringette!
Association Directors
Our association is currently made up of our president, secretary and treasurer. As the association grows, we will be looking for more directors to take on roles such as: coaching coordinator, referee development, registration, vice-president, social media, just to name a few. If you were interested in learning more about the positions needed, please reach out and we can give you an idea of the scope and time commitment. Keep in mind, we can't do this without you! Ringette is a team sport on and off the ice!
Time/Score Keepers
We will be looking for parents, older siblings or friends able to help us with time and score keeping when we host games. It's not too hard! We will give you a tutorial on how to run the clock and other duties of "minor officals".
Referees
Yes, that's right! We will be needing some local referee experts as our association grows. If you are interested in learning more about the game and getting paid to be a part of something cool, please reach out!
